The Sales Count And Scholarship Amount Just Keep Climbing
Arkansas Scholarship Lottery sales are expected to top the $20 million mark today, meaning more than $5 million will have been produced in net proceeds for college scholarships for Arkansas students and families. A two-week sales report from the Arkansas Lottery Commission shows that from the September 28 lottery launch date through Sunday, October 11, Arkansas retailers sold an estimated $19.3 million in $1, $2 and $5 scratch-off tickets. Prizes returned to players approached $12.6 million.
Today, lottery sales will top $20 million for the first 15 days. The $5 million for scholarships is based on the Arkansas Lottery Commission preliminary operating budget, which counts 25.6 cents of every $1 in lottery sales as net proceeds for college scholarships for two- or four-year degree-seeking Arkansas citizens admitted to public or private colleges and universities in the state.
Remember, the higher the sales, the bigger the scholarships. That’s not just us talking. That’s the law.
